Dorothea Padies and ATS 1871

It is time for a  long over due update.

While vacationing with my  daughter and her family, I finished Dorothea Padies.  Normally I don't take any stitching project with me when I go out of town.  This time I decided to take DP since I was very close to finishing.  I finished it within two days into my visit.

I added the second picture since it has a Scissors fob made by daughter.  I like the added touch of "B".  "B" was chose by my grandson, Avik partly because that is the first letter of my name and partly because it has the number 3, for my 3 grandsons :)

I still have not started stitching in full swing.  It always takes me a few days to pick up speed.  I did manage to complete four more rows on Gig's ATS 1871.

The fabric color is entirely different IRL. It is not at all grey, it is more of off white-beige.

I have a new start !!  Yes  !!!  I decided to stitch  Gigi's Saxony Sampler ATS 1871.

I found a piece of 40 ct Newcastle.

Since I didn't want stitch on stark white, I decided to use walnut crystals and with tips from Inguna Krastina I dyed my fabric and to my delight the fabric came out OK.  So I started stitching ATS on June 2nd.  I am using Hand Dyed Fibers from Vikki Clayton and GAST.

So far so good :)

FINALLY, I have a finish!!

I finished BKRM 1779 on May 12  I started this on Apr 13 and finished it on May 13.  For some strange reason I was on a roll with this one and stayed with it  ( Surprise, Surpirse !!) until I finished it.  I am a lousy photographer.   It looks much better IRL.

I started yet another sampler.  Sabine Taterra-Gundacker is charting BKRM 1779 and is hoping to release the chart this Summer.

When she asked me if I wanted to stitch this as she is charting, of course I said "YES!"

I first started this on 40 ct Onyx by Weeks Dye Works.  I stitched the first tree but something didn't look right.  A part of the tree that should be a square was no longer a square, but a RECTANGLE :(  So checked the even-ness of the fabric  and to my chagrin, the fabric was not even, it was not 40 ct both ways, but it was  36 x 40 !!   I was not happy, to say the least.  Then I thought I would try this on 32 ct and even ordered HDF premium.  Vikki was kind enough to mail me my order right away.  I made my second start but wasnot happy with this one either.  After stitching on high count or over one on 28 or 30 ct, this looked HUGE.  So scratched this start and decided to stitch BKRM on 28 ct even weave with HDF regular floss.

I started this 2 weeks ago and am now at the half way mark.

After taking a break from Pattern Record,  I picked it up again and stitched two more bands. I am stitching this on 35 ct linen with HDF fibers.

I made some more progress on Dorothea Padies.  I stitched all the way down- Pages 1-3.  I am more than 1/3 done with the sampler.  She is going to be a teeny tiny Dorothea. 1 x 1 on 40 ct linen with HDF SSF.  The sampler can be found here

I have always wanted to try my hand stitching 1 x 1 on 40ct.  When Vikki Clayton introduced  SSF ( Single Strand Find)  I decided to gve it a try.  I chose

I have stitched a little bit more than this but am too lazy to take a picture now.

The sampler is 170 x 239.  Mine, when finished, would measure 6 " x 4.25 ".
